Call for papers

The 25th International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference (IVNC 2012) will be held during July 9 ~ 13, 2012 at Hyatt Hotel Jeju in Jeju Island, Korea. It will bring together an international body of scientists and engineers to discuss their research on vacuum micro and nanoelectronics. The topics will include the theory, fabrication, and characteriz! ation of vacuum micro and nanoelectronic materials and devices with applications to x-ray sources, lamps, information displays, microwave amplifiers, plasma devices, analytical instruments, satellites, e-beam sources, particle accelerators and sensors.

The conference will have a four-day program which consists of plenary talks, invited talks, contributed talks and poster sessions. Especially, to encourage young scientists, several awards will be given to young researchers for outstanding contributions.

The conference place, Jeju island, was enrolled to the UNESCO heritage for its unique and beautiful natural scenery. Scenic beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves lie in harmony, and the mild weather makes Jeju an even more ideal tourist destination. Palm trees and other tropical plants coexist with temperate varieties, and form the famous unique scenery of Jeju. The eruption of Mt. Halla that took place approximately 25 thousand years ago created the crater lak! e, Baekrok-dam, at the summit of the mountain. Especially, Jeju island provides very delicious sea foods from the clean pacific sea.

The conference is sponsored by Korea Information Display Society, Nano Technology Research Association, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, Hyosung Corporation, Vatech Ewoo Holdings, SNDisplay, Korea University, Kyung Hee University, and other research organizations.

Main Topics

  1. Fundamentals and Modeling of field emission
    • Theory of all forms of field induced electron and ion emission
    • Physics and phenomenology of electron and ion emission
    • Field ionization and evaporation fundamentals
  2. New materials and technologies for field emission and vacuum tunneling
    • Emission properties for all forms of materials that exhibit field-induced electron emission, secondary emission, photo-emission, negative electron affinity and photo assisted emission.
    • Integration of emission materials into sources and source platforms.
  3. Fabrication and characterizations of vacuum micro and nanoelectronic emitters
    • Diode structures, triode structures, process, emission performance and long term emission stability.
  4. Applications of vacuum micro and nanoelectronic devices
    • X-ray sources, microwave amplifiers, lamps, flat panel displays, plasma devices, analytical instruments, lithography and sensors, medical & biological applications, particle accelerators and space physics etc.

Prospective authors are invited to submit a 2-page abstract of the work to be reported including as many details as possible. The inclusion of figures, tables and especially numerical data is strongly recommended. The deadline to submit abstracts for Program Committee review is March 23, 2012. Detail can be obtained at www.ivnc2012.org. The abstracts can be accepted through on-line process in the web site.

Especially, we will prepare a special session of field emission devices for medical applications. Field emission based X-ray sources are one of hot issues in vacuum nanoelectronic devices. We hope this session will expedite new research and development using field emission devices.

Oral Presentations

Each paper selected for oral presentation at the conference will be allotted a total of 20 minutes-15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion. To maintain the schedule of each session, authors are asked to ensure that presentations conform to these time constraints.

Poster presentations

Poster paper presentation sessions are prepared for deep and free discussion between researches. The detail form for poster presentation will be announced later in the web site of 25th IVNC 2012.

Student paper awards

All papers presented by students will be reviewed by organizing committee for student paper awards. We strongly recommend that student papers were presented for poster sessions.
